La Virgen de la Candelaria , Origin of the title

La Virgen de la Candelaria is named after the feast of the Candelaria or Light, which originated in the East under the name of "Encounter" , and then spread to the West in the sixth century, coming to be held in Rome with a character penitencial.1
His feast is celebrated according to the Catholic calendar or calendar , on 2 February in memory of the passage of the Presentation of Jesus at the Temple in Jerusalem (Luke 2; 22-39 ) and purification of the Virgin Mary after childbirth , to fulfill the requirement of the Law of the Old Testament ( Lev 12; 1-8).
The party is known and celebrated with different names : the Presentation of the Lord, the Purification of Mary, the feast of the Light and the Feast of Candles , all these names express the meaning of the holiday . Christ the Light of the world by his mother in the temple comes to enlighten all as candle or candles , hence the invocation of the Virgin of " Candlemas " derives .
